Animal-assisted therapy is a wonderful option to reduce stress and enhance the therapy experience! With animal-assisted therapy, the client is welcome to bring their fur partner to therapy with them to actively participate in therapy. This does not make the fur partner an “assistance” partner, but just a participant in therapy. This kind of psychotherapy can help with many issues a client may be struggling with.
Service animals are the “hot topic” now and many people are getting them. There are no active regulations for service animals, therefore anyone can obtain a vest, put it on their pet and call that pet a service animal. While this is perfectly legal, it does open the person up to many liabilities and makes it harder for those who truly need service animals.
Sometimes you need emotional support. The kind only a furball can provide! Again, just like service animals, emotional support animals are the “hot topic” now and many people are getting them. There are no active regulations for these animals either, therefore anyone can obtain a vest, put it on their pet and call that pet an emotional support/service animal. While this is perfectly legal, it does open the person up to many liabilities and makes it harder for those who truly need these animals.
